Nature's Fireworks

Last night we had a lightning storm in Denver. Lightning, you say? Yes, our weather is quite different than Utah and Idaho. We had rain, lightning, and thunder yesterday. So, as a family, we went into our family room and turned off the lights to make the house completely dark. Stacey held Ryan and I held Hunter, and Sammi just crawled around in the dark. We just sat and watched the house light up from the lightning. Stacey told the boys that if you count after the lightning strikes until you hear the thunder then you can determine how far away the lighting was. We had some that were 6-7 seconds and a few that were less than 1 sec. We had a great time enjoying one anothers company and watching the fireworks.

I remember the lightning stroms in Colorado Springs. One was very scary that us girls went and hid in my closet with pillows and blankets. The lighnting would happen and then immediatly we could hear the thunder.
